Six Minute Century: Major Update
Some of you might have noticed that updates from the SMC camp have been, well, non-existent in recent months. The reason for this is that there have been some large changes and the band wanted to make sure we really knew exactly what the hell was going on before we made a statement of any kind.
That said, there is good news and bad news.
Lets go ahead and get the bad news out of the way first.
A couple of months ago, Six Minute Century said goodbye to its long-time drummer and great friend Darren Davis. Darren had some opportunities come his way that required that he move a considerable distance from Houston.
Darren was one of the first drummers that I met after moving to Houston years ago and encountering him at an open jam we both played one night. Years later, when Sampy left the band, it would be Darren that would think to call and ask me to audition…and well…the rest is history.
Don, Chuck, and I are all very sad to see Darren go, but we wish him and Connie the best as they embark on their new adventure. I know that all of you fans out there will miss him just as much as we will. Thanks for all the good times bro…it was moist.
So what now? Those are some big shoes to fill.
That problem was one that had me worried for a little while, but when one door closes another usually opens (and thankfully, this door did not reveal a bunch of rabid, transvestite hookers).
We found a guy that not only could handle the position, but WANTED to do it. He still wanted to do it even after I explained to him that he would have to play in a band with The Frenchman.
You may already know this individual. If you are familiar with Helstar, Outworld, Sabbath Judas Sabbath, Metal Asylum, or any of the other countless projects that he has played in, then you have heard the drumming of Mikey Lewis.
Mr. Lewis is equal parts moist and badass. All of you will be thrilled when you hear him with the band. He will make his first appearances with us this June: June 9th at Acadia in Houston and June 16th in San Antonio.
Make sure you do not miss these dates or your remains will have a date with the coroner.

“Through the flames, we abide…”- This band is destined for even more greatness! DD will of course, be missed. But Centurions Forever: We march on! Can’t wait to see you guys play again real soon. As well as the release of numero dos.
Yeah…he is a monster. If you get a chance, try to catch him with Helstar because those guys tear it up. I know they have a bunch of stuff in Europe this fall, but I’m sure there will be another gig in this area sometime…
